Ms. Lavern Farrell has worked in the legal profession for almost 20 years.  Ms. Farrell has proven that she is a dedicated and hard working professional and continues to seek to improve her own professional development.   Ms. Farrell has received numerous training over the years including:

  • Diploma from the International Correspondence Schools for successful completion of the programme of professional secretary.
  • Diploma with Merit from the E.C Computer Institute for completing Intermediate Computer Science Course (Excel and Quick Books)
  • Diploma from the Online training Company for completing an intensive Paralegal Course.  During this training, Ms. Farrell received specific training in general Principles of English Law, Procedural Law, Criminal Litigation, Civil Litigation, Matrimonial matters, Corporate Law and Proofreading.
  • Diploma as a Senior Paralegal for completing Advanced Level in areas such as Business Awareness, Client relations, Communication, interviewing and Advising, Practical Legal Research, Negotiating, Professional Conduct and Legal Writing and Drafting.
  • Certificate of Participation in 2015 AML/CFT Seminar and Training from the Nevis Financial Services Department.


Ms. Farrell is a Full International Member of the Institute of Paralegals and as such has the professional designation of Certified Paralegal (Int).  Ms. Farrell is an essential part of our team and as Office Manager plays a major part in the general administration of our chambers.

Chelsee Liburd

Legal Secretary


Ms. Chelsee Liburd is our Legal Secretary.  Chelsee's duties include handling most of our scheduling and appointments as well as other general administrative duties.  Chelsee is also primarily responsible for client communication and is usually the first point of contact at our chambers.


Chelsee holds a Legal Secretary Diploma from the Institute of Legal Secretaries and PAs.

Principal/ Attorney at Law/Notary Public

Kurlyn Merchant is admitted to practice in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, the British Virgin Islands and the Anguilla Circuits of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court. She is also a Notary Public in St. Kitts and Nevis. She is known as an astute Attorney who guides clients as she consistently seeks the best outcome possible. 

​Ms Merchant has practiced in civil and commercial law attending to land and Real Estate matters, corporate disputes, debt recovery, divorce, child custody and domestic disputes. Her clientele includes financial institutions and businesses locally , regionally, politically exposed individuals, high network individuals and families.

Ms. Merchant frequently appears before the Court of Appeal, High Court and the Magistrates Court in the Eastern Caribbean and likewise, has attended to matters before the Commercial Court in the BVI.

Ms. Merchant is the recipient of the prestigious Chevening Scholarship through which she secured expertise in Energy and Natural Resource Law and now stands as one of the few trained specialist in that area in the Eastern Caribbean, competent to navigate in particular the intricacies of renewable energy efforts of various states in the regions.
